2005 Community Investments
Local volunteers on Community Councils use their knowledge and experience to target funds where the needs are greatest. To make the best use of contributor dollars, United Way holds agencies accountable for their programs, Grants are typically awarded for a period of three years, with continued funding dependent on satisfactory outcome reports. Violence Reducation Program - SisterCare

The program is a partnership of family service agencies working together to provide a comprehensive range of services that meet the multiple, short-term, immediate, and long term needs of battered women and their children. As the only program in South Carolina of this type, the project increases the safety of battered women and their children through Family Court and breaks the intergenerational cycle of domestic violence. This grant was renewed in 2008.
Emergency Auto Repair Program - The Cooperative Ministry

The E.A.R.P provided emergency vehicle repairs to low income clients who are working and rely on personal transportation to commute to their jobs, and for whom an emergency repair bill would cause hardship. E.A.R.P also provided bus tickets to area homeless and working poor who are in need of transportation for work, health care services or job interviews. This grant expired as of 6/30/2008.

Year: The year refers to the first year in which the agency receives funding for that particular program. Grants are typically awarded for a three-year period. Very successful programs may be extended beyond three years and programs that do not meet expectations can be ended before the three year grant cycle is complete.
Amount: The amount refers to the funding the agency receives per fiscal year for the term of the grant.
